I’m not sure when this mix-up started about red lipstick being “too bold” or only for blondes named Marilyn, but it’s time to set the record straight.
I hear from my subscribers and readers all the time about how they wish they could pull off wearing red lipstick. Most girls say they don’t think they have the right look, or it’s just too strong of a statement for them. Well the vote is in! Anyone can wear red lipstick. It doesn’t matter if you’re short or tall, a redhead or a blonde- you can sizzle in red too.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I can understand feeling uncomfortable with so much color on your face at first- especially if you typically don’t wear any. But it just takes some getting used to. I would say that 85-95% of the days I wear red lipstick, I get a compliment
day or night.
Here are some tips to help you get used to wearing red lipstick:
- Try wearing it around the house to start, and every time you go to use the restroom, take a peek in the mirror. This will get you used to seeing it on your lips.
- When you go out for the first time wearing your sexy red lipstick of choice, try convincing a friend to wear it with you. Or better yet, if you already have friend that regularly flaunts some sexy red- go out with her. It will make you feel like part of a club
- If you feel like you need to start a little slower, practice with a very sheer pink lipstick or gloss on your lips first. Then you can gradually go to more vibrant shades of pink until you make your way to red. This will help decrease the color shock value you might be feeling.
Remember ladies, beauty is about who you are and what you like. Good luck on your quest to wear red!
