Anthony Logistics For Men Toner Pads [Review]

Some of you might be unfamiliar with Anthony Logistics. They are a Men’s Skincare Company but they also have products suitable for women.

Anthony Logistics Toner Pads

I wanted to start off by letting everyone know that I have used these in the past but am reviewing based on my Boyfriends experience. I used these regularly on his skin and wanted to share with my Male (& Female) readers.

As an FYI he has Normal/ Combo skin.

Review:

1) I used these about twice a day on him in addition to his regular skincare routine. I noticed that in many cases that was too often and dried his skin out. If you have oily skin, I assume you would be okay using this twice a day.

2) These were great at removing dirt and oil.  They also had a nice exfoliating affect.

3) I felt that the price was reasonable for what you get. (60 generous sized pads)

4) After a few uses I did see noticeable results on very small bumps he had on his face. Not acne blemishes per-say.

5) He had no irritation from this product. Just some drying of the skin if used too much. Keeping in mind he does not have sensitive skin.

All in all, recommended!

5 Shaving Cream Substitutes (that you already own)

Don’t panic if you wake up Monday morning and realize you are completely out of shaving cream. There are plenty of products you can use in place of shaving cream.

These Substitutes will work for the ladies and the gentlemen! Beware though, you might just decide to switch out your regular shaving cream for these products instead ;P

I have heard wonders about using Olive Oil for a shaving oil.  This cooking ingredient leaves your skin feeling silky and soft. I would definitely use a generous amount to avoid razor burn and test this on a small patch of skin first.

Your Hair Conditioner can work as an excellent shaving cream stand in. I absolutely love to use it on my legs and recently my boyfriend even used it to shave his face. He said it worked really well.

Shampoo: Although I would definitely go for the Conditioner before the shampoo, this will do the job too. It will foam up much more than the conditioner but I would rather trade for the silky feeling afterward.

Baby Oil: I’ve heard this works better on your face than the Olive Oil. I can’t verify that, but either oil will work. I know this leaves a lovely shine and silky feel on the legs though! ;)

Lotion: This product has almost the exact same properties as any shaving cream. I will advise you though, be careful not to get any cuts or nicks when shaving with lotion. It might burn a bit.

Please be sure to comment and let me know if you had any additions to this list!

5 Steps to Cure Oily Skin

Oily Skin Tips Help AdviceOily skin can be tough to deal with. Whether you have an oily T-Zone or an all around oily complexion. I’ve compiled some useful tips to help control oil and keep your face matte. Enjoy!

1) Use a Mattifying Moisturizer: These are designed specifically with oily skin types in mind. They give you the moisture you need without contributing to excess oil on the face. Generally they are the same price as your average moisturizer.

2) Double your Cleansing: Washing your face twice a day is generally safe for oily skin types. For obvious reasons this helps cut back on oil production and helps balance out your skin. Pay close attention though- if your face begins to look dry (even with a sheen) you need to tone down the cleansing to once a day and decrease your toner usage. If you don’t follow this rule, you could end up with more oil production than when you started!

3) Use Masks and Clays: This is a step many people find to be “extra” or going over the top with skincare. However, using a mask or Clay can improve your skin ten-fold. Keep in mind that these too can dry out the skin, so be sure to use the recommended amount and stick to “problem areas”.

4) Keep Blotting Papers On Hand: This is a step many people skip, but blotting papers are a very cost affective way to remove dirt and oily throughout the day. They don’t take up very much space in a purse or makeup bag and men can fold a few and stock their wallets with them.

5) DIY Facials: I know, I know. There is a touch of self promotion here- but I can’t help it. I really do love Fruit Facials! It’s so fun to make new ones and learn about benefits you never knew were sitting right in your kitchen. Not to mention they are such a great alternative for sensitive skin types. You know exactly what you’re applying to your face and you still get amazing benefits.

10 Eco-Minded Labels Explained

organic labels beauty cosmeticsIt’s already tough to shop responsibly, given how widely words like “organic” and “natural” are thrown around. To make things even more complicated, though, there are also tons of ecological certifications products can get. They’re designed to tell consumers that a product is more ecologically friendly, but not all certifications are the same, and some are much more strict than others.

here are 10 common logos broken down to show what each of them means:

  • Natural Products Association Certification: The Natural Products Association certificationmeans:
    • Any product labeled “natural” must be made with at least 95 percent natural ingredients – that is, from renewable resources found in nature. No petrochemicals are allowed.
    • No parabens, SLS, chemical sunscreens, or phthalates.
    • No animal testing.
    • The packaging must be environmentally conscious and sustainable.
  • The NaTrue Label: The NaTrue label means that a product has been certified to contain only water, natural ingredients, and nature-derived ingredients. The label has three grades: Natural Cosmetics, Natural Cosmetics with Organic Ingredients, and Organic Cosmetics.
  • Whole Foods Premium Body Care: OK, so why is a store’s seal on the list? Because a lot of people shop at Whole Foods, and this seal promises that a product:
    • Is free of parabens, SLS, and more than 250 other ingredients deemed unacceptable.
    • Has no synthetic fragrances.
    • Has minimal environmental impact in production, sourcing, and disposal.
  • Vegan Certification: This label means just what you’d think it does: no animal testing, no animal products. It doesn’t take a stance on parabens and other controversial ingredients.
  • The Leaping Bunny: Created by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics, theleaping bunny symbol shows that a product is made without animal testing at any stage of its development. It stands out from other “no animal testing” seals because all companies are independently audited to ensure adherence to the strict guidelines. If the audit fails, the company is no longer able to use the symbol.

5 Reasons Men Should Practice Good Skincare

In our society, men are still made to feel that taking care of their skin is somehow de-masculating or feminine. I think that’s just silly. Since when is acne considered a macho trait? I’ve never heard Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsing it. Just like us ladies, men are going to feel more confident in themselves if they’re happy with their appearance. And while we’re on the subject, just because a guy starts taking care of his skin doesn’t mean he is about to run out and purchase a wig and a dress for friday night.

So fellas, if you haven’t already started, look into pampering yourself with exfoliation, toning, and moisturizing. It’s a lot of fun once you start :P

Why men should take care of their skin:

  • Aging: Just like women, men’s skin ages. Using products that take care of your skin can improve and prevent the signs of aging. Would you rather look like Harrison Ford at age 68 or Kurt Russell at 61. Once  upon a time women were lining up to see Kurt Russell, but it looks like one too many trips to the beach without sunblock has taken it’s toll. However, You STILL here women mentioning Harrison’s good looks today. (who is 7 years older than Kurt by the way)
  • You’ll Feel Better About Yourself: We all get a little self conscious if we experience a break out or dark under eye circles. When you take care of yourself, you feel a lot better walking around performing day to day activities.
  • Your Friends Will Be Jealous: Not that life is one big competition, but it’s nice to get a compliment every now and then. Your friends (guys and girls!) are all going to ask what your secret is.
  • Your Girlfriend Will Thank you: This can be a fun thing you two will have in common. Something new to shop for and also a new conversation piece about the pros and cons of your skincare products. Besides, with your new clean and fresh face whenever you meet someone important in her life, she will have the benefit of hearing how nice your skin is once you leave. (believe me, these conversations do happen. Often.) Everyone wants bragging rights, right?
  • Attract more Women: It’s no secret, women are suckers for a pretty skin and a nice bright smile. I’m sure you’ve heard a sigh or two after the names Taylor Lautner, Denzel Washington, or Zac Efron are mentioned. Part of the reason is their great skin. If you’re on the market for a new lady friend, this could be a great way to attract her eye.
