Beauty should be synonymous with Health and Happiness.
At Cosmetics By Cortney, we are all about keeping things real and natural. Unfortunately, natural is a term that is not defined specifically. What this means is that we have to decide for ourselves what is healthy for us and what is not.
Below you will find information on ingredients commonly found in cosmetics.
- Parabens: Are a class of chemicals widely used as preservatives by cosmetics and pharmaceutical companies. Much study still needs to be done in terms of the safety of this chemical. Preliminary research detected Parabens in human breast cancer tumors.
- Phthalates: Found in many personal-care products as well as detergents and glues. Phthalates are being phased out of many products in the United States, Canada, and European Union.
- Sodium Lauryl/ Laureth Sulfate: A harsh detergent used in many shampoos to cleanse and foam. It is often derived from Petroleum, it can cause Dry Scalp, Dry Skin, Eye Irritation, Skin rashes and other Allergic Reactions.
- Petrolatum: Also known as Petroleum Jelly, a mineral oil derivative that can clog pores and in turn disrupt your bodies natural ability to moisturize its own skin. This can cause or worsen dry skin or chapping.
