*DIY* Fruit Facial Friday: Watermelon

Watermelon Fruit FacialWhat better month for a Watermelon fruit facial than July?! With all of the Watermelons i’ve seen at Picnics lately, I decided that was my sign to post a new Fruit Facial recipe on Cosmetics By Cortney. Aside from the wonderful hydrating properties of watermelon, Like most other fruits it also has Vitamin C. Watermelon will help cleanse your skin while delivering Vitamin A as well.

[ Remember!: I Highly Recommend Watching my Prep Video before trying any of my Fruit Facials ]

Recipe:

1/2 cup Watermelon

2 T-Spoons Grapeseed Oil

2 T-Spoons Honey

Add a Small Chunk (about 2 inches) of Banana as Desired

One  benefit of this Fruit Facial is that you don’t need a blender! Just mash up your ingredients and stir well :)

3 Beauty Essentials for Summer

Summer Beauty MakeupI have to admit that so far the weather has been much less extreme here in Southern California than it was last summer (knock on wood!). But as most of you know, keeping your face pristine can be challenging even in the most ideal weather. Here are the 3 essentials you need to keep a fresh face this summer:

PrimerThis is an indespensable tool for a flawless face. Most primers help protect your makeup from even the most humid of days. If you’re planning a day at the beach, don’t apply your makeup without this secret weapon. I recommend this primer by Smashbox.

Waterproof Mascara: You never know when the heat is going to hit at an all-time-high and we all know that oily eyelids can drag your makeup down big time. And let’s face it- none of us really want to look like  a member from KISS.

Favorite Lipgloss or Lipstick: This is your opportunity to add a pop of color to your face without taking too much time out of your morning routine. When you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to grab the eyeshadow, reach for the nearest lipgloss. Oh, and did I mention- Lip products tend to last a long time regardless of the weather outside :)
